Hello everyone! Rebecca and I have some exciting news… We put in an offer on a new house in St. Petersburg, Florida and the seller has accepted our offer. We are now under contract and should be closing in the next 30 days.
Rebecca and I currently live in High River, Alberta (Rebecca’s home town). We have been temporarily living up here while we wait for her immigration paperwork to finish processing. Even though her application hasn’t been approved, we feel like it is only a matter of time before it goes through.
We found the home on Zillow and we were instantly attracted to the private tropical setting. It had only been on the market for a week, and when I emailed the realtor, she informed me that it was already under contract. Bummer! I didn’t let that stop me from further inquiring though. After several conversations with the realtor, I learned that the primary offer had multiple sale’s contingencies that were unattractive to the seller. I decided to make an offer on the house anyways, and to our surprise, the seller made our offer primary.
The home itself is located in Pinellas Point which is at the southernmost tip of St. Petersburg. It is located in a historic district called the “Pink Streets”. The area is very mid-century modern in its style.
The landscaping creates a very private, tucked away tropical feel that we very much enjoy. The backyard is completely fenced with a gated entrance that leads you into the back area. In the backyard you will find three patios and, the best feature, a solar saltwater pool! There is also a neat outdoor shower that we are looking forward to using.
Since Rebecca and I do not have any kids, or plan on having them, we thought a two bedroom was plenty big enough for us. Our idea is to completely furnish the house in a minimalistic, modern, tropical style. There are some features that we might redo in the future, but for now I think we are just excited to move in.
And of course we will be renting the home out on Airbnb! Given that the house is less than half a mile from the coast and 6 miles from St. Pete Beach, we think that it is in a prime location for rentals. The private backyard, pool, patios, and outdoor shower are all features that we think will be attractive to guests. We plan to rent the extra bedroom out for approximately $119 per night.
Like I said earlier in the post, we should be closing within the next month so be on the lookout for more posts. Be sure to message us if you are looking for an Airbnb rental in St. Petersburg, Florida. We are super excited to move in and enjoy our new home!
