There are few things harder than trying to get your real estate business going.
After taking weeks of courses and spending thousands on fees, you are left at the starting gate of your career with no boss, manager or guide to tell you where to go or how to find work.
There are hundreds of online coaches pushing you to buy their sales programs, all with the same shtick: hassle FSBO’s and expired listings.
I don’t have a “salesy” personality. I don’t enjoy pushing people into things they don’t want to do. Cold calling exasperated homeowners and begging them to let me sell their home sounds like a nightmare.
So how are you so successful in real estate if you don’t cold-call, hustle FSBO’s or go door-knocking?
My secret is my Airbnb.
People travel from all over the world to St. Petersburg, FL. They usually come here for pleasure, but a lot of people come here to get a feel for the area and look at homes before purchasing one.
And where do they stay?
In my home.
I eat breakfast with them and share wine after dinner on the patio. We share stories and really get to know each other like family or good friends. They trust me and that is the key to every agent-client relationship.
It’s also convenient staying with your Realtor, as you get more one-on-one time with them. Instead of an hour long meeting and an entire day crammed of previewing homes, you can ensure you’re getting your needs met by looking at homes together all throughout the week in a more relaxed, less pressured environment to discuss your priorities–all for the same price you would be paying to stay at cheap motel.
I have sold more homes through Airbnb than any other referral source.
If you are a Realtor, I highly recommend you clean out your spare room and start hosting on Airbnb. We’ve had a guest take us out flying, professional chefs stay with us and treat us to a 5-star meal, and have made life-long friends. An added bonus: I’ve sold real estate!
We’ve even had a guest come on a vacation to our home and love our setup so much, they turned around a bought a house just a few streets down from us!
