Our first featured hosts are the two people who got Rebecca and I interested in becoming hosts on Airbnb. Our experience as guests in Kirk and Robert’s home left us captivated and excited. We loved everything about our stay–the ease of checking into their home, the hotel-like amenities they provided, and their friendly yet completely disinterested house-dog Ripley. Kirk and Robert’s Vancouver Penthouse was everything we could have wanted in an Airbnb rental.
As an entrepreneur and business person, I was thoroughly impressed with the structure of processes that Kirk and Rob had developed for their listing.
When we arrived in downtown Vancouver, we were instructed to visit a local cafe in order to pick up our key. We walked into the coffee shop and asked the barista if she knew where we could find our key. She handed us a cell phone and told us to enter our phone number, which pulled up our reservation and confirmed our check in. She then handed us the key to Kirk and Robert’s place. We later learned this technology was Key Cafe.
This technology streamlines the guest check in process and also creates a security system for the host.
Kirk and Robert’s home was spectacular. Located on the 24th floor of a Vancouver high-rise, their home featured 3 guest balconies that overlook different areas of Vancouver (including a private guest balcony). The home was spotless. We later learned that they have a maid that cleans after every guest.
The hosts provided us with a thorough welcome packet that included detailed personal reviews of local restaurants, bars, parks, and other establishments. We felt very confident about navigating the city–even though I had never been to Vancouver.
Kirk and Rob have very welcoming personalities, but are respectful of their guests’ privacy. If you want to visit or have questions about the city, they are open to discussion and will verbally tour you around town. If you would rather keep to yourself, they have no problem leaving you alone. In my opinion they have perfected their roles as hosts and are excellent ambassadors for Airbnb.
A quick glimpse into the nature of Kirk:
Rebecca and I wanted to go to a very popular sushi restaurant on Friday night. We didn’t realize that the restaurant required reservations–and that it was probably too late in the afternoon to book one. When we told Kirk the name the restaurant, he immediately notified us of the restaurant’s popularity and offered to make us a reservation. He called right away and got us a table.
Rebecca and I couldn’t have been more impressed by our stay in Vancouver. Without a doubt, we will always try to book Kirk and Robert’s place when visiting downtown. We highly suggest staying at their home if you’re looking for a luxurious, penthouse style condo with breathtaking views of the city.
